Care advice for longevity and beauty
Wood is a living material, which means that it requires regular care and attention to maintain its beauty and functionality. At Drömtrappor, high-quality woods and environmentally friendly surface treatments are used, which makes maintenance simple and efficient. By following a few simple maintenance and cleaning routines, you can extend the life of your indoor stairs and keep them in top condition.
Things to think about with wooden stairs
Wood is a material that expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity, which can affect the fit of the details and cause noise. This is a natural property of the material. If noises become noticeable or play occurs, it may be necessary to tighten the stair fasteners to prevent these problems. It is a simple measure that ensures that the stairs continue to function properly and maintain their aesthetic charm. It is especially easy in a staircase equipped with Mount In – hidden fixings that greatly facilitate maintenance and tightening of the bolts.
You will find more information about Mount In here.
Varnished and coated surfaces
Stairs treated with waterborne UV-curing varnish or acid-curing topcoat are highly resistant to stains and scratches. With proper care, they retain their natural freshness year after year. Cleaning of the stairs must be done with as dry methods as possible. Stains can be removed with a cloth moistened with lukewarm water and a mild all-purpose cleaner. As stairs are generally subject to heavy wear and tear, we recommend regularly treating exposed surfaces with polish in conjunction with cleaning.
Oiled surfaces
Even oiled surfaces are cleaned using as dry methods as possible. The stairs must be regularly vacuumed and wiped. Cleaning takes place with a slightly moistened cloth and mild detergent with a Ph value of approx. 7. Remember that alkaline agents must never be used because they have a high Ph value and can damage the surface. Oil the wear surfaces a few times a year. Lightly polish the wear surfaces with fine sandpaper (grit 400). Apply cold oil and wipe completely dry after a few minutes. After the treatment, the stairs should not be used for the next 10-24 hours.
