Technical info – Glass

Staircase: Stairs with glass railings are technically adapted for straight, strict shapes. In the case of curved L-/U-stairs, there is an additional cost and these shapes may also require an additional connecting post inside corner or angle brackets made of metal for glass. Glass between clips (GC) allowed max 1000mm opening > glass width max 960mm. Bolted (GB) or grooved glass (GS) is distributed with a maximum division of 1200 mm. Differences between the boxes/runs may exist.

The weight of the stairs places demands on the floor and connected joists.

Vault edge requirements: For side-mounted glass, vault edges are subject to straightness and skewness.
Solid edge beam >40 mm required. Squares are divided up to 1500 mm in length. Fasteners Ø50 mm are distributed with a maximum division of 650 mm. Two brackets one above the other are required for stability. Superimposed glued supervisor is required as well as the possibility of attaching to the wall.

Different types (GC, GB, GS) place different demands on the glass, our standard, which also meets the balcony association's requirements, is 8-12.7 mm depending on the type.

All glass is tempered and laminated.

Technical info – Treppenmeister

A staircase with a cantilever railing and step attachment to the wall has different requirements for attachment than a staircase with a side rail. The wall must be a wooden stud frame with a dimension of at least 45×70 c/c 600, covered with at least 32 mm chipboard or 20 mm long fiber chipboard (OSB), alternatively of concrete.
If the requirements cannot be met, it is possible to mount the Treppenmeister® against the wall instead. The handrail can be ordered with a different or the same type of wood and surface treatment as the rest of the stairs. Stair attachment to the wall is the same as when the stairs are mounted directly to the wall.

Spindle walls and cover

We often supply covers for spider walls either in top-painted mdf or in a type of wood that matches the stairs. Shown below are four common types of spider walls. If we are to supply cover caps for this type of wall, we need to know the thickness of the wall. We deliver the cover as standard in the dimension wall thickness+14 mm (7 mm overhang on both sides).

Technical information

Pre-drilling

When you buy a staircase from us, we prepare the staircase for installation by pre-drilling the parts to be connected based on the assembly method, model and how it should be placed.
Visible sides are prepared so that the fitter can hide the attachment between, for example, step and vang with a hat plug. Side to wall has a visible screw to get as tight a fit as possible. Different models and options may require different types of pre-drilling, but we have already prepared this for you or your fitter at the factory.
